The Commander's Report

December, 2021

I would like to thank everyone who participated in the Veterans Day Parade held on November 14, 2021. There are (4) special groups that I would like to recognize Cub Scout Pack 305, Girl Scout Troop 111, Boy Scout Troop 111 and finally the JROTC from Boca Ciega High School.

On November 18, the Early Bird was a success with over 40 Legion members with their membership cards participating.

On November 20, 2021 we had the Post Blood Drive, a Special Thank You to all the donors.

Saturday December 18TH is the Post annual Christmas Party for all Family Members of the John G. Doran Memorial American Legion Post 158 which will feature drawings for gifts along with live entertainment. Please check the flyers for more details.

On Saturday December 25TH the Post will be closed.

On New Year’s Eve, the Post will be closed from 3:30 pm to 5:30 pm as the Post will be decorated for the New Year’s Eve celebration. Entertainment will be our very own Barry Peters. Dinner will be served between 5:30 pm to 8:30 pm. Check the flyers for the food selection, cost and deadline to place your dinner order. Payment must be made at time of the food selection. There will be assigned seating for dinner.

The POW/MIA ceremony which will be the reading of the names of POW/MIA veterans who were repatriated during the month will be held on December 21ST at 5:30 pm.

When the Christmas tree is decorated and the gift shopping is complete, visit the Post and enjoy the social quarters with your fellow members while participating in a few games, have a bite to eat from the canteen and a couple beverages of your choice.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.
